Dental Hygienist Inita Čeire (SIROWA Riga Dental clinic): "Does Kissing Affects Oral Health?"
"The oral cavity is inhabited by a very rich and varied microflora. This microflora can be broken down into two parts: Resident microflora (such that are always present in a certain area) and transitory microflora (moves through the body but could not “live” there, for instance, microbes that enter the body along with food). 200 species of micro-organisms are known to live in dental plaque; it is estimated that 10 million bacteria inhabit 1 milligram of dental plaque.
Do not let the potential threats keep you from kissing, but make certain that your oral health is good, so you will not cause discomfort or health problems for the person you love.
